Habitual Stitchery

Definition: The need to stitch.

At the end of 2016, I decided to embark on the One Year of Stitches challenge. On the first of January 2017 I set up an Instagram account accordingly and started trying to figure out how to use it! My old blog suffered from neglect as I was so busy stitching and engaging with the wonderful community on Instagram, but I was known then as Habitual Stitcher. The name was born of being someone who is always stitching or knitting – like many people, I find it really difficult to just watch TV and feel happier when I am making something. Sometimes life throws up its own challenges and situations that divert you away from what you want to do, and that’s been the case here for a couple of months. The decks are starting to clear now though, so I’m going to dive back in, once I finish trying to figure this website out!

Here is the piece of embroidered artwork I created in 2017. It was twelve months in the making and is my Wheel of the Year, featuring things I spotted in nature and on my travels, and places I visited. It has become a sort of heirloom piece.

Looking at this piece again reminds me how much I love to stitch. I just need to…
